What happened to Rollinsford on May 15? Almost 70 volunteers from Timberland Co. arrived that day to the 14-acre town site on Foundry Street that houses the community garden. After a long day of hard work, they left a welcoming space for residents to come and picnic, to garden in new beds, to walk, to reflect on the quiet beauty around them. IN ONE DAY!!! The Timberland project leaders spent weeks working thoughtfully, caringly and imaginatively with the RGLSC to bring our hopes and dreams to reality. We still marvel at the organization and planning that was required to keep 68 volunteers busy and productive for the day. Many residents responded to our invitation to join us after the day’s work to celebrate our accomplishments. It was gratifying to see friends and neighbors walking through the archway, families eating ice cream at the picnic tables, groups of people going down the trail and coming up the trail, and hearing gardeners marveling at the new beds and the archway. Many, many thanks to our community sponsors, our business sponsors and especially our wonderful Timberland volunteers! Enjoy the accompanying photographs of the days’ work and its aftermath. And don’t forget to visit the site itself!
