2013 turned out to be a great start for the new Board of Directors. We spent the winter getting organized and in the first half of the year had several good fundraisers that paid our expenses for the season. Our two biggest events for the community were the annual Duck Race and the hopefully annual "Growing Green Garden Tour," where we showcased 11 sites throughout the town that promoted sustainable and organic gardening practices. Thank you to all the site owners/gardeners who participated! We rented out nearly every bed at the garden, and harvests were plentiful. We'd like to thank Treasurer Michele Small and her husband Roy for putting in a lot of time and effort weekly to keep the site mowed, which is not an easy task. We did have a couple additional changes in the board: we said goodbye to Secretary Jeanette Gagne early in the season and Vice-President Dawn Evans at the end of the season when she moved back to Arizona. But we also welcomed Michelle Mears on as our new Secretary and RGS teacher Becky Wright as a Director. Welcome aboard and thank you for helping the RGLSC to continue on and grow. We'd like to also express thanks to many Friends of the RGLSC who helped us this year: Wentworth Greenhouses and Jack Carroll, Librarian Tamara Niedzolkowski, Roy Small, Judy Nelson, John Wastrom, all the volunteers who manned our Garden Tour sites, all our gardeners, and everyone in the community who came out to support us at our events. We'll see you in 2014!
